Voznesenskii, Ivan Nikolaevich
Born Jan. 5 (17), 1887, in Kronstadt; died June 28, 1946, in Moscow. Soviet scientist in the area of hydromechanical engineering and automatic machine regulation. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1939). Beginning in 1921, Voznesenskii taught in institutions of higher learning, chiefly in the Leningrad Polytechnical Institute. Under Voznesenskii’s direction, powerful turbines for several hydroelectric power stations and propellor pumps for the Moscow Canal (1935) were planned and built. Voznesenskii worked out the theory and practice of calculation methods for the control of heating-system and condensing turbines and steam boilers. He received the State Prize of the USSR in 1947.
