Jabot

 

a decorative trimming made of lace or light cloth on a blouse or dress. In 18th-century European dress, a jabot was a gathered strip made of lace or muslin that was attached to the collar of a man’s shirt and fell to the chest. The name “jabot” was also used for a high, linen collar, popular in the 19th century, that covered the lower parts of the cheeks.
