Jibril

 or Jabrail

In Islam, the archangel who acts as intermediary between God and humankind and who bore divine revelations to Muhammad and previous prophets. His biblical counterpart is Gabriel. Jibril aided Muhammad in times of crisis and guided him during his ascent into heaven. Muslim belief holds that Jibril appeared to Adam after his expulsion from Paradise to show him how to write, raise wheat, and work iron and also that Jibril aided Moses in delivering the Israelites from Egypt.
