Jackson, Henry M. (Martin) (1912–83) U.S. senator; born in Everett, Wash. He served in the U.S. House of Representatives (Dem., Wash.; 1941–53) and in the U.S. Senate (1953–83). Known as the "Senator from Boeing," he was a staunch supporter of the interests of his state's defense industry; he also advocated an anti-Soviet foreign policy. He was an unsuccessful presidential candidate in 1972 and 1976.
