Jackson, Rachel Donelson Robards (1767–1828) wife of Andrew Jackson; born in Brunswick (now Halifax) County, Va. She married Jackson in 1791, then remarried him in 1794 to prevent confusion stemming from her previous marriage to Lewis Robards. She died just before Jackson's inauguration; he believed that political slights directed against her and their marriage had caused her death.
