Size: 600 acres.
Location: South Lake Michigan lakefront between 56th and 67th Sts.
Facilities: Picnic area, boat launches, beaches, running track, paths, playgrounds, sports courts, fitness center, meeting rooms, 18-hole golf course and driving range.
Activities: Boating, fishing, swimming, bicycling, horseback riding, golf, tennis, basketball, football, soccer, softball, cross-country skiing, recreation programs.
Special Features: The park was first created to host the 1890 World's Columbian Exposition. Today, one of the most notable buildings from that historic World's Fair--the Fine Arts Palace--is the home of Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry. Other features in the park include a beach house with an interactive play fountain (at 63rd St.) and Wooded Island, which contains a nature sanctuary and Japanese garden. Immediately north of the park is famous Promontory Point, and to the south is the South Shore Cultural Center.

A FAMILY Fun Day will take place at Hartlepool's Ward Jackson Park on Sunday.
Allain of 39 Jackson Park was arrested after her car crashed into a cruiser driven by Officer Joseph Wolski.
More than pounds 1,000 of damage was caused to Ward Jackson Park in Hartlepool, including the uprooting of a rare Chinese ginkgo biloba tree hours after it was planted by Mayor Stuart Drummond.
