Wackernagel, Jacob

Bora Dec. 11, 1853, in Basel; died May 22, 1938, in Basel. Swiss linguist; specialist in Greek and on Indian studies. Professor of Indo-European studies at the universities of Basel (1879-1902) and Göttingen (1902-15). Author of the fundamental study Grammar of Sanskrit (vols. 1-3, 1896-1930).
