Jaguaribe River

River, northeastern Brazil. Formed by the junction of the Carapateiro and Trici rivers, it flows northeastward for 350 mi (560 km) to enter the Atlantic Ocean at Aracati. Long periods of drought, during which much of the river is dry, are followed by catastrophic floods that inundate the towns along its lower course.
