Janauschek, (Francziska Magdalena Romance) Fanny (1830–1904) stage actress; born in Prague, Czeschoslovakia. Already a star in Europe, this powerful tragedienne first performed in German in her American debut in 1867; by 1870 she had learned enough English to appear in Mary Stuart. Settling in America in 1880, she lost her standing due to her old fashioned style.
