Janis, Elsie (b. Bierbower) (1889–1956) singer; born in Columbus, Ohio. Pushed on stage by her mother at age 8, she delighted audiences in Europe and America with her singing and impersonations of other celebrities like Will Rogers (1900–32). She worked as both writer and production supervisor of movies in the early 1930s.
