Jayasi, Malik Muhammad 

Date of birth and death unknown. Indian mystical poet of the late 15th and early 16th century.

Jayasi, who wrote in Awadhi (a dialect of Eastern Hindi), is one of the outstanding representatives of the Indo-Muslim cultural synthesis. He is the author of the narrative poems The Alphabet of Truth, Day of Judgment, and Padmavatthis last, based on historical subjects, is characterized by its artistic mastery of the motifs and artistic methods of the Indian and Muslim literary traditions.
