Jefferson Davis Monument State Historic Site Location: 9 miles east of Hopkinsville on US 68. Facilities: Visitor center with exhibits and gift shop, picnic area, 2 picnic shelters, playground. Special Features: Site is a memorial to Jefferson Davis, the President of the Confederacy, who was born here in June 3, 1808. The 351-foot monument constructed on this site marks Davis' birthplace and rests on a foundation of solid Kentucky limestone. An elevator takes visitors to an observation room at the top of the structure, affording visitors a panoramic view of the surrounding countryside.
