Name Origin: Either for Jerome Hill, a principal figure in the Twin Falls North Side Irrigation Project (1905), or Jerome Kuhn, his son-in-law, or for Jerome Kuhn, Jr., his grandson. All were major figures in the growth of the county. Area (sq mi): 601.87 (land 599.84; water 2.03). Pop per sq mi: 32.70. Pop 2005: 19,638. State rank: 17. Pop change: 2000-20005 7.10%; 1990-2000 21.20%. Pop 2000: 18,342 (White 80.60%; Black or African American 0.20%; Hispanic or Latino 17.20%; Asian 0.30%; Other 12.40%). Foreign born: 10.50%. Median age: 32.90. Income 2000: per capita $15,530; median household $34,696; Pop below poverty level: 13.90%. *Personal per capita income 2000-2003: $21,785-$24,616. Unemployment 2004: 4.40%.
