    0.01 sec.
Jiquidi, Aurel

Born Oct. 25, 1896, in Bucharest; died there in 1962. Rumanian graphic artist and painter. Honored Art Worker of the Socialist Republic of Rumania.

Jiquidi was a student at the School of Fine Arts in Bucharest and also studied in Paris and Rome (1920). In the late 1920’s, he began working for the progressive Rumanian press, creating terse dramatic antifascist drawings (for example, The Terrors of the War and The Legionnaires Were Here, 1936) and sketches of episodes that occurred during the Rumanian revolutionary movement. He composed a series of drawings about the peasant uprising of 1907 and also illustrated literary works by I. Creangă and M. Sadoveanu. Jiquidi was awarded the State Prize of the Socialist Republic of Rumania.
