Jobs, Steven

    0.04 sec.
Jobs, Steven (Paul) (1955–  ) computer engineer, entrepreneur; born in Los Altos, Calif. Educated at Reed College (Portland, Ore.) in the early 1970s, he and Stephen Wozniak built their own microcomputers in a garage. By the mid-1970s, they had built the first Apple I. In 1976–77, they formed Apple Computer Company, with Jobs as chairman. The company did phenomenally well, introducing a succession of increasingly more sophisticated McIntosh computers known for their "user-friendliness." In 1985, he resigned from Apple after losing a power struggle with president John Sculley; Jobs later founded NeXT, Inc.
