Jockey's Ridge State Park Location: Off US 158 Bypass in Nags Head. Facilities: Picnic area, picnic shelters, trails, dune vehicle rental, visitor center, exhibit hall. Activities: Swimming, hiking, hang gliding, kite flying, nature programs. Special Features: Park includes the tallest natural sand dune system in the eastern U.S., a favorite spot for hang gliding. Shifting sand prevents construction of a traditional trail, but there is a 1.5-mile route marked with 14 stations.
