[ILLUSTRATION OMITTED] Meanwhile, the Koninklijke Marine (Royal Netherlands Navy) performed the final series of sea trials with the HNLMS Johan de Witt LPD before the vessel is formally commissioned.
The ship is variant of the Rotterdam class LPD, which also forms the basis for the British Royal Navy's Bay class landing vessels, but the Johan de Witt is technically an Enforcer class vessel with 'propulsors' as opposed to the shafts of the previous class, and a 16,600-tonne displacement as opposed to the 14,000-tonne displacement of the Rotterdam class.
