Johnson, Edward Crosley, III (1930–  ) financial executive; born in Boston, Mass. Born into a prominent Beacon Hill family, he graduated from Harvard in 1954 and joined his father's firm, Fidelity Management & Research Corp., rising to president and chief executive officer from 1972–77. In 1977 he became chairman and CEO of Fidelity's parent, FMR Corp., which he built into one of the nation's largest money management concerns, particularly by aggressive marketing of mutual funds.
