Johnson, Nunnally

    0.01 sec.
Johnson, Nunnally (1897–1977) screenwriter, movie producer/director; born in Columbus, Ga. After many years as a newspaper reporter and then short story writer, he went to Hollywood and began writing scripts in 1933. Over the following years he wrote countless scripts, ranging from such distinguished films as The Grapes of Wrath (1940) to lighter fluff such as The Dirty Dozen (1967). Between 1935 and 1960, he also produced and directed films, but as these never garnered much acclaim, he returned to scriptwriting in his later years.
