Johore Bahru
a city in S Malaysia, capital of Johore state: important trading centre, situated at the sole crossing point of Johore Strait (between Malaya and Singapore Island). Pop.: 719 000 (2005 est.) Johore Bahru (also Johor Bahru), a city and port in Malaysia at the southern end of the Malay Peninsula; administrative center of the state of Johore. Population, 75,000 (1957). Johore Bahru is an intermediate point on the main railroad line, which runs across the Johore Strait along a causeway to Singapore. Rubber, palm oil, and pineapples are exported.
