Jones, John P. (Percival) (1830–1912) miner, U.S. senator; born in Hay, Wales. Brought to Cleveland, Ohio, as a child, he went to California in the gold rush of 1849, then moved to Nevada where he made his fortune in silver mining. Elected to the U.S. Senate (Rep., Nev.; 1873–1903), he inevitably supported silver coinage. How to thank TFD for its existence?
