Jones Beach State Park Location: 33 miles from Manhattan via Meadowbrook Parkway South and Wantagh Parkway south to the park. Activities: Swimming, surf fishing, bicycling, golf, boating, recreation programs. Special Features: With more than six miles of Atlantic and bay beaches and a two-mile-long boardwalk, Jones Beach is Long Island’s most popular state park destination. The park's Theodore Roosevelt Nature Center offers educational, hands-on exhibits for children, and a photo collection entitled “Castles In the Sand” depicts the development of the Long Island State Park and parkway systems.
