Jones Beach State Park

Location: 33 miles from Manhattan via Meadowbrook Parkway South and Wantagh Parkway south to the park.
Facilities: Ocean beaches, 2 swimming pools, bathhouses, showers, marina, boat basin, 2-mile boardwalk, picnic tables, playground, food concession, miniature golf course, performing arts theater, museum/visitor center, gift shop (é).
Activities: Swimming, surf fishing, bicycling, golf, boating, recreation programs.
Special Features: With more than six miles of Atlantic and bay beaches and a two-mile-long boardwalk, Jones Beach is Long Island’s most popular state park destination. The park's Theodore Roosevelt Nature Center offers educational, hands-on exhibits for children, and a photo collection entitled “Castles In the Sand” depicts the development of the Long Island State Park and parkway systems.

Preservation League of New York State makes important announcement regarding Jones Beach State Park; Jones Beach State Park Central Mall, boardwalk end, by the flagpole.
Developer Donald Trump has partnered with caterer, Steve Carl, to create "Trump on the Ocean," a $40 million upscale catering hall and restaurant on the Jones Beach Boardwalk, at Jones Beach State Park.
One of Commissioner Moses' outstanding feats was the conversion of a deserted stretch of beach previously accessible only by boat into Jones Beach State Park that opened in 1929.
