Poulík, Josef 

Born Aug. 6, 1910, in Jiříkovice, Moravia. Czechoslovak archaeologist. Academician of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences (1972). Vice-president of the academy from 1970 to 1977.

Poulík has been director of the Institute of Archaeology of the Academy of Sciences since 1946 and a professor at the university in Brno since 1966.

Poulík’s main works are devoted to the Slavic culture of Moravia from the first centuries A.D. to the creation and flowering of the Great Moravian State. They deal with excavations in Moravia and the publication of archaeological materials, as well as with historical and archaeological studies.
