Boguski, Józef Jerzy
Born Sept. 7, 1853, in Warsaw; died there Apr. 18, 1933. Polish physical chemist. In 1875–76, Boguski worked with D. I. Mendeleev in research on the elasticity of gases. In 1876 he first showed, from the example of the dissolution of marble in HC1, HBr, and HNO3, that at a constant temperature the speed of a heterogeneous reaction of the first order is proportional to the concentration.
