In central MT, southeast of Great Falls; organized Dec 10, 1920 from Fergus and Cascade counties. Name Origin: For the basin of the Judith River, which flows through the county; named by Meriwether Lewis (1774-1809) for his cousin, Judith Hancock, who later married Lt. William Clark (1770-1838)
