AscaniusIn Roman legend, the son of Aeneas and founder of Alba Longa (probably the site of modern Castel Gandolfo) near Rome. In Livy's account, his mother was Lavinia, and he was born after Aeneas founded Lavinium. Ascanius was also called Iulus, and he was considered the founder of the line that included Julius Caesar.
