Köpenick (kö`pənĭk), district of Berlin, E Germany, at the confluence of the Spree and Dahme rivers. It is an industrial center and a tourist spot, with forests and large lakes. Köpenick was the scene of the trial (1730) of Crown Prince Frederick (later Frederick II Frederick II or Frederick the Great, 1712–86, king of Prussia (1740–86), son and successor of Frederick William I .
