Klebsiella pneumoniae [‚kleb·zē′el·ə nə′mō·nē‚ī]
(microbiology)
An encapsulated pathogenic bacterium that causes severe pneumonitis in humans. Formerly known as Friedlander's bacillus; pneumobacillus.
