Kakinada (kəkĭnä`də) or Cocanada (kōkənä`də), town (1991 pop. 327,541), Andhra Pradesh state, SE India, on the Godavari River delta. A coastal trading port on the Bay of Bengal, it is now a district administrative center and a market for sugarcane, peanuts, tobacco, cotton, and iron ore. There is a flour-milling factory and a salt-processing plant.
Kakinada (Cocanada), city and port in India, located on the Bay of Bengal in the Godavari River delta in Andhra Pradesh. Population, 164, 200 (1971). Kakinada is linked with the sea by a system of canals in the delta. Cotton, rice, flour, tobacco, and steel ingots are exported.
