Kakinada (kəkĭnä`də) or Cocanada (kōkənä`də), town (1991 pop. 327,541), Andhra Pradesh state, SE India, on the Godavari River delta. A coastal trading port on the Bay of Bengal, it is now a district administrative center and a market for sugarcane, peanuts, tobacco, cotton, and iron ore. There is a flour-milling factory and a salt-processing plant. |
