Kallman, Chester (Simon) (1921–75) poet, librettist; born in New York City. He studied at Brooklyn College (B.A.) and at the University of Michigan. He was praised for his volumes of poetry such as Absent and Present (1963), but is best known for writing, in collaboration with W. H. Auden, the libretto for Stravinsky's opera The Rake's Progress (1951).
