Kammari, Mikhail Davidovich 

Born Feb. 17 (Mar. 1), 1898; died Sept. 21, 1965, in Moscow. Soviet philosopher. Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1953). Joined the CPSU in 1919.

Kammari graduated from the Institute of the Red Professoriat of Philosophy and Natural Science in 1931. Beginning in 1929 he taught philosophy in higher educational institutions. Kammari was editor in chief of the journal Voprosy filosofii (Questions of Philosophy) from 1954 to 1959. He became senior research fellow at the Institute of Philosophy of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR in 1945. Kammari’s principal works were on historical materialism (national relations and the role of the popular masses and the individual in history).
