Kanchalan

a river in the Chukchi National Okrug, Magadan Oblast, RSFSR. Length, 426 km; basin area, 20, 600 sq km. It originates from several sources (the largest of which is the Iuzhnyi Tadleoan) at Mount Tumannaia and flows through the Anadyr’ Lowland in a broad valley and into the Kanchalan estuary of the Anadyr’ Gulf. The major tributaries are the Tnek-veem and the Impeneikuiym, from the right. The Kanchalan is fed by snow and rain. It freezes in mid-October, breaking up in early June. The river is navigable for 50 km above its mouth.
