Kanun
a plucked stringed musical instrument. Its use is widespread in the Middle East. In the USSR the kanun is played in Armenia. Its flat body measures 800–900 mm, and it has 24 strings. The kanun is tuned diatonically. The sound is produced with a plectrum worn on the finger. The plectrum resembles a thimble. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
