    0.01 sec.
Kapustinskii, Anatolii Fedorovich

Born Dec. 16 (29), 1906, in Zhitomir; died Aug. 26, 1960, in Moscow. Soviet physical chemist. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1939).

Kapustinskii was a professor at the universities of Gorky (1934–37), Kazan (1941–43), and Moscow (1945–49), the Moscow Steel Institute (1937–41), and the Moscow Institute of Chemical Engineering (1943–60). His main works deal with the physical chemistry of metallurgical processes and the determination of the heat of formation of inorganic compounds. Kapustinskii proposed an equation for lattice energy, developed a thermal method for determining ionic radii, experimentally established the isotope effect for crystal-lattice energy, and proposed a theory of the thermal capacity and entropy of ions in solution. Kapustinskii was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor and several medals.
