Karami, Rashid Abd Al’hamid 

Born 1921 in Tripoli, Lebanon. Lebanese statesman.

Karami was educated as a lawyer. He graduated from the University of Cairo in 1947. From 1948 to 1951, he practiced law. In 1951 he was elected to parliament from the city of Tripoli. Between 1951 and 1955 he occupied various ministerial posts. He was prime minister in 1955–56 and then from September 1958 to October 1970 (with interruptions). On May 28, 1975, he was again appointed prime minister. Karami supports the strengthening of the national independence and sovereignty of Lebanon.
