Karatsu

Karatsu (kärä`ts), city (1990 pop. 79,207), Saga prefecture, NW Kyushu, Japan, on Karatsu Bay. It is a summer resort and fishing port important historically as Japan's ancient communications point with Korea. Chemicals and porcelain are produced.

According to Wednesday's ruling, Iwamoto strangled Kamohara in a car parked on a roadside in Karatsu, Saga Prefecture, in December 2007 following an argument and abandoned her body in a field.
The proposed tunnel, more than twice as long as the Channel Tunnel, would link Karatsu in south-western Japan and Pusan in South Korea, via two islands in the Japan Sea.
The envisaged 128-kilometer tunnel would be part of a roughly 230-km railway linking the southwestern Japanese city of Karatsu, Saga Prefecture, and the South Korean city of Busan through Japan's Iki and Tsushima islands, said the lawmakers gathering for an organizing committee meeting.
