Mekk, Karl Fedorovich
(also K. von Meek). Born July 22 (Aug. 3), 1821; died Jan. 26 (Feb. 7), 1876, in Moscow. Russian railroad engineer. Born into a noble family from Livonia. In the early 1860’s, Mekk took part in the construction of the Moscow-Riazan’ and Riazan’-Kozlov railroads. Later he became a concessionaire of the Kursk-Kiev and Libava-Romny railroads. Having amassed a fortune worth millions, he acquired major landholdings. Nadezhda Filaretovna Mekk. Born Jan. 29 (Feb. 10), 1831; died Jan. 14 (26), 1894. Wife of K. F.
