Kashiwazaki (käshēwä`zäkē), city (1990 pop. 88,309), Niigata prefecture, central Honshu, Japan, on the Japan Sea. A resort town known for its hot springs, Kashiwazaki produces petrochemicals, machinery, glass, and lumber.
