Kasli Castings
artistic cast-iron items (sculpture, garden tables, grillwork) produced at the iron foundry in the city of Kasli. The traditions for which Kasli castings are known (graphic precision of outline, a combination of meticulously finished details and flat surfaces with a vigorous play of highlights) developed during the 19th century in the sculpture cast from models by P. K. Klodt, E. A. Lansere, R. R. Bakh, M. D. Kanaev, and local masters, such as V. F. Torokin. During the Soviet period, sculpture has been executed from models by N. V. Tomskii, M. G. Manizer, and the local masters P. S. Anikin, A. S. Gilev, and A. V. Chirkin. REFERENCERazina, T. M., I. M. Suslov, E. N. Khokhlova, and N. S. Gorelikov. Russkii khudozhestvennyi metall. Moscow, 1958.
