Katz, Alex (1927– ) painter; born in New York City. He studied at Cooper Union, N.Y. (1946–49) and at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Maine (1949–50). Based in New York City, he painted stylized large-scale oil portraits, such as Ada and Alex (1980).
