Keeshan, (Robert James) Bob (1927– ) television producer, host; born in Lynnbrook, N.Y. Starting as a National Broadcasting Company page, he later played Clarabell on Howdy, Doody (1947–52). After developing ABC's Time for Fun (1953–55), he produced Captain Kangeroo (1955–85) on CBS, starring as the grandfatherly host who teaches through the humorous antics of animal puppets, aided by Mr. Green Jeans.
