Kekaha Kai (Kona Coast) State Park


Location:On Queen Kaahumanu Highway (Highway 19), 2.6 miles north of Keahole Airport.
Facilities:Beach, picnic area, portable toilets, trails, scenic vista; no drinking water.
Activities:Hiking, swimming, other beach-related activities.
Special Features:This wilderness park includes the Mahaiula and Kua Bay sections, two beach areas linked by a 4.5 mile segment of the historic coastal trail, Ala Kahakai. Visitors can also hike to the summit of Puu Kuili, a 342-foot hgih cinder cone that offers an excellent view of the coastline.

Directions: take the road to Mahaiula section of Kekaha Kai State Park to the parking lot at the very end of the road.
According to the state Department of Land and Natural Resources, it reopened the Kua Bay section of the Kekaha Kai State Park north of the Kailua-Kona airport.
