Kell’, Nikolai Georgievich 

Born Jan. 8 (20), 1883, in the village of Petrovo, present-day Toropets Raion, Kalinin Oblast; died Dec. 22, 1965, in Leningrad. Soviet scientist and specialist in goedesy and photogrammetry. Corresponding Member of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1946).

In 1915, Kell’ graduated from the Petrograd Mining Institute, becoming a professor there in 1922. His principal works deal with advanced geodesy and photogrammetry, and with the development of aerial photogrammetric methods and their application in geographic and geological map-making. Kell’ was awarded the Order of Lenin, three other orders, and medals.
