Kelme

Kelmė 

a city, the administrative center of Keime Raion, Lithuanian SSR. Located on the Kražante River (Nemunas basin), on a highway 15 km west of the Tytuvénai railroad station on the Šiauliai-Sovetsk line and 44 km southwest of Šiauliai. A flax-processing plant, a creamery and cheese dairy, and a branch of the Kaunas knitted-goods factory are there. Keime also has a museum of local lore.

Dr Eufemiano Fuentes, former doctor for the Kelme team, is alleged to have been the mastermind of a vast blood doping network, dubbed 'Operation Puerto' in May 2006 following a police raid on his Madrid laboratory which uncovered doping products and 100 bags of blood products .
On that occasion five of the top seven (the exceptions being Lance Armstrong and Richard Virenque) were Spanish, with Javier Otxoa of Kelme leading the field home on a filthy wet day in which Armstrong dished out a proper kicking to his rivals.
Prof Kelme said: "Flavanols might have an important impact as part of a healthy diet in the prevention of cardiovascular complications in diabetics.
