Kenai
a peninsula in southern Alaska, in the USA, between Cook Inlet and Prince William Sound. Length, approximately 240 km; maximum width, 113 km. It has a mountainous topography, with a maximum elevation of 1,884 m. The eastern shore consists of fjords; the western shore is low-lying. The Kenai Peninsula has a cool marine climate and an annual precipitation of up to 1,500 mm. In the mountains there are dense forests and a considerable amount of ice; at lower elevations there are meadows. The Kenai Peninsula has petroleum deposits, and fishing is important.
