Kenkel, Frederick P. (Patrick) (1863–1952) Catholic social reformer; born in Chicago. Turning to religion after the death of his first wife (around 1900), he became influential as managing editor of the German Catholic newspaper Amerika, and from 1908 he directed the social reform program of the Central Verein, the largest German-Catholic organization of the time. After World War I, however, the organization and Kenkel's conservative social views waned in influence. How to thank TFD for its existence?
