Kennedy, Eugene P. (Patrick) (1919– ) biochemist; born in Chicago. He was a chemist at Armour and Company (1941–47), then became a fellow at the University of California: Berkeley (1949–50). He taught and performed research at the University of Chicago (1951–60), before joining Harvard Medical School (1960). He determined the enzymatic pathways for biosynthesis of triglycerides and phospholipids (1950s). His later investigations of membrane function demonstrated the genetically-mediated role of proteins in lactose transport in the colon bacillus.
