Kent, Jacob Ford (1835–1918) soldier; born in Philadelphia. After graduating from West Point in 1861, he saw combat during the Civil War. He served on the frontier for nearly 30 years, and commanded the 1st Infantry Division in the storming of San Juan Hill outside Santiago, Cuba, in July 1898.
