(astronomy)
A supernova that appeared in the constellation Ophiuchus in October 1604 and was visible until March 1606.

Analyzing nearly 9 days of observations from NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory, Stephen Reynolds of North Carolina State University in Raleigh and his colleagues have now determined that Kepler's supernova was indeed type 1a.
After 4 centuries, Kepler's supernova remains the last such eruption in our home galaxy.
